How to stop bed from sliding on wood floor

Does your bed slip and slide all over the place when you get on and off of it or if you rest against the edge of it? It’s annoying, right?

And if you have wood flooring, this can be even more frustrating and annoying — since it can scratch and damage the floor. That being said, there are a few simple steps you can take to stop your bed from sliding on wood floor.

Let’s break down those ways now.

Easy ways to keep a bed from sliding on wood flooring

  1. Clean: Make sure that the legs of your bed are clean and free of any debris. When there’s something else underneath the bed – whether it’s a loose piece of furniture, a toy, or just some dust – it can create an uneven surface that makes the bed more likely to move. This is especially true if the debris is mostly on one side of the bed.
  2. Rugs: When placed under the bed frame, rugs help to grip the floor and prevent the bed from sliding around. In addition, rugs can help to protect flooring from scratches and scuffs. If you have hardwood floors, consider using several smaller rugs instead of one large one. This will help to distribute the weight of the bed and prevent any indentations in the floor. With a little bit of planning, you can use rugs to create a tranquil bedroom retreat.
  3. Metal Brackets: If you have a metal bed frame, you can try using corner brackets to secure the frame to the floor. Corner brackets are L-shaped hardware that’s designed to join two pieces of wood at a 90-degree angle. By attaching a set of corner brackets to the legs of your bed, you’ll create a more stable connection that will prevent the bed from moving. Plus, corner brackets are relatively inexpensive and easy to find at your local hardware store. So if you’re tired of your bed sliding around, pick up a set of corner brackets and give them a try.
  4. Leveling: Make sure your bed is level. If it isn’t, then the bed will be more prone to sliding around — especially if you rest against it all. Unfortunately, this can be easier said than done, especially if the floor underneath is not completely level. The good news is that there are a few tricks that can help to create a level surface for your bed. One option is to use furniture shims under the legs of the bed frame. Another option is to use carpet tiles or foam mats to create a more even surface.
  5. Velcro Pads: Another option is to use velcro pads. These pads can be attached to the feet of the bed and will keep it from sliding on the floor. Not only will this prevent damage to the floor, but it will also make it easier to move the bed around. Velcro pads are an inexpensive and easy way to keep a bed from sliding, and they can be found at most hardware stores.
  6. Attach To Wall: Many people choose to attach their bed frames to the wall to keep the bed from sliding on wood floors. There are a few different ways to do this, and the best method will depend on the type of bed frame and the type of wall. The most common way to attach a bed frame to a wall is by using L-brackets. These brackets can be found at most hardware stores, and they simply screw into the wall and into the bed frame. Another option is to use dowels or bolts. This method requires more work, as you will need to drill holes in both the bed frame and the wall. However, this option provides a more secure connection and is less likely to damage your floors.
